Grasshopper Chair
The visually light, yet incredibly sturdy Grasshopper chair was designed by Eero Saarinen in 1946. Well into our third decade of producing this iconic design, each piece is made to order in a wide variety of fabric options, and two wood options. The arms and legs are molded from twelve layers of North American hard rock maple. Top and bottom layer veneers are North American walnut veneer with a clear coat, or North American hard rock maple with a clear coat or a classic tint. High density foam made in the USA.

An icon of design.
One of Saarinen’s earliest works, the Grasshopper Chair set the stage for the sculptural lounge seating that would define his career. Despite its lean, angled silhouette, the chair offers ample lumbar support and enough recline to ease into relaxation, comfort built into a form that looks like it shouldn’t need it.
Molded maple, two wood finishes.
The arms and legs are molded from twelve layers of North American hard rock maple, finished in walnut veneer with a clear coat, or maple veneer in a natural or classic tint.
Explore the possibilities
Our upholstered pieces are available in 60 fabric options and 3 leather options, with the selection specific to each design. From tactile weaves to supple leathers, each material brings its own character to the design. Every piece is made to order in our Los Angeles factory, to one standard of craftsmanship.
