Modernica's wood stain finishes are applied by hand in our Los Angeles factory, each one designed to enhance the natural grain rather than obscure it. Available in four finishes spanning light to dark, they allow the same piece to read very differently depending on the space it lives in.

Natural is the lightest, a barely-there finish that lets the wood speak for itself. Classic adds a warm amber tone that enriches the grain without masking it. Walnut stain deepens the surface to a rich, warm brown. Black is the most dramatic, a near-opaque finish where the grain remains faintly visible beneath.

Beyond craftsmanship, Modernica exclusively uses FSC-certified wood, the mark of responsible forestry. Certification by the Forest Stewardship Council ensures full traceability from forest to finished product, guaranteeing that materials are sourced from forests managed to protect biodiversity, preserve natural ecosystems, and support the communities that depend on them. It is a choice that promotes fair labor practices, environmental stewardship, and the long-term health of the land our materials come from.
