Case Study® Fiberglass Burlap Armchair
Constructed from layers of fiberglass with a burlap sack embedded into both the front and back, each shell produces natural variations in fiber pattern and translucency that make every piece one of a kind. Each chair carries its own individuality and distinctive material expression, reflecting the care and skill involved in its creation. Meticulously crafted by skilled artisans, it combines strength and durability, resulting in a piece that is reliable, enduring, and visually captivating. Every detail, from smooth contours to subtle tonal shifts, is the product of precise hand craftsmanship, creating a piece that is inherently unique and embodies fiberglass in its purest form.
The Spyder™ base is made of 16 layers of North American wood molded to perfection. It consists of two intersecting spars constructed of maple ply, contoured between 2 layers of walnut veneer, and finished with a protective satin coat.

Strength, without compromise.
A fiberglass shell holds a form no other material quite matches, the medium giving this chair its defining silhouette since the day it was first molded. The shell is shaped from high-quality fiberglass composite, resistant to cracking and warping, with a lightweight durability that performs as well in a home as it does in a restaurant or office. It is the same material that helped define a generation of modern design, its relevance as enduring as the material itself.
Explore the possibilities
Our fiberglass pieces are available in 31 colors. From understated neutrals to bold, saturated hues, each piece carries natural variations in pattern and translucency that make it one of a kind. Each piece is pressed in our Los Angeles factory, to one standard of craftsmanship.
