Yayoi Kusama

In our visit to Japan we explored works by one of the most iconic and well known Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. Kusama is widely known for creating over the top colorful pumpkin sculptures and placing them at different areas all around the world. We figured there is no better place to document them than in her hometown Japan. We tracked down two of the sculptures on a remote art island in Japan called Naoshima which plays hosts to the popular art museum Benesse house. Afterwards we headed to Kyoto where we were pleasantly surprised to find another one of Yayoi’s beautiful sculputure outside her “My Soul Forever” exhibition at the Forever Museum of Contemporary Art.
