Created by architect Tadao Ando and fashion designer Issey Miyake.
21_21 Design Sight is a museum in Roppongi Hills located in Tokyo, Japan created by architect Tadao Ando and fashion designer Issey Miyake. The museum is nestled beneath trees and beautiful greenery at the edge of a park. Inside, the museum is filled with small but captivating details from the concrete interior architecture to the workers dressed in Issey Miyake designed uniforms. Tadao Ando, the architecture of the space explains his desire to create something more than just an exhibit that displays artwork. He wanted to create a space that fosters creativity and design to enrich our daily life. Ando further explains that he aims to create “a place that fosters the public’s interest in design by arousing in them different sights and perspectives on how we can view the world and the objects surrounding us.” This museum is an absolute must visit for any aspiring designer or creative.
