The Case Study® House program (1945-66) was one of the most innovative events in the history of American architectural design. The program, which was heavily concentrated in the Los Angeles area, comprised of the designs of
36 prototype homes. The concept was to construct these modern residences easily and inexpensively
the postwar building boom. The program's chief motivating force was Arts & Architecture editor John Entenza during, a
champion ofmodernism, who enlisted some of architecture's greatest talents, such as Richard Neutra, Charles and Pierre Koenig,
and Eero Saarinen. Highly experimental, the program generated homes that were designed to establish the ideal
for the modern home and lifestyle.
